Sport Relief aims to support projects that use sport and exercise to strengthen communities and provide opportunities for people who are excluded or disadvantaged. Over the next two years, up to £4m of Sport Relief money is being distributed through Community Foundations focusing on community groups that are using sport to: increase access to sport and exercise for people who face social exclusion and isolation; help people who are experiencing difficulties in their lives to regain their confidence and self esteem; and encourage people to take part in sporting activities that bring communities together.
Young Roots grants are designed specifically for young people aged between 13 and 20 to get involved with heritage. Any not-for-profit group can apply and the HLF is happy to give advice with applications and information about their other funding schemes. There is no deadline and you can expect to have a decision within three months of submitting the application.
Supports charities registered in the UK, the dominant purpose of which is to benefit either Learning, the Arts or Health. Applicants must have charitable status. Revenue and capital projects considered. The majority of grants will be between £10,000 to £50,000. The maximum amount of a large grant will not normally exceed £500,000 and may be payable over several years. No deadlines for submission. It may take up to four months or more, from receipt of a completed application, to obtain a decision from the Trustees.
UK registered charities working at a community and neighbourhood level can apply for funding of between £1,000 and £20,000. New charities that are not yet registered may be considered for start-up funding if they are able to demonstrate good governance and sound financial management. The Foundation are interested in funding new services or activities covering a variety of themes including heritage, improving community facilities or supporting older people. Also projects covering arts, preservation and the environment.
The Ashden Trust makes grants in the fields of: Environmental Projects; People at Risk; Sustainable Regeneration; Community Arts; General. The Trust’s long-term focus on climate change and poverty alleviation allows it to explore a range of ways to tackle these enormous challenges.
