The Conservation Foundation and O2 have launched a new award scheme to help provide funding for projects designed to improve local environments throughout the UK. Grants of up to £1,000 are available for projects which benefit the community, or build community spirit.

O2's It's Your Community awards provide up to £1,000 to local groups and individuals for anything that can be shown to benefit their community. http://www.itsyourcommunity.co.uk

is a new site dedicated to taking a daily look on the bright side. Each week, five charities will be featured and site visitors can vote for their favourite of these charities. The winner receives a cash donation. Visitors will also be able to vote for their Charity of the Year which will receive an additional prize and recognition at the annual OptimistWorld.com Awards ceremony in January 2009.
