CAFOD's Development Education Fund supports the work of projects, groups and organisations across England and Wales involved in global justice education work. The aim of the fund is to provide support for groups in order to further CAFOD's strategic goals and education priorities. <http://www.cafod.org.uk/uk/funding>

The foundation has published its annual report for 2007. Projects supported include: a dance company for older people; an outreach debt-counselling programme for parents of disabled children; a recycling programme based in UK prisons. <http://www.gulbenkian.org.uk/about-us>

CEMEX Community Fund, grants of £1,000 to £15,000, supports environmental and community projects close to CEMEX's operations, nearest Loughborough and Syston. Next deadline for submission of an Expression of Interest is 14 April 2008.

The CSJ Awards recognise and reward effective poverty-fighting groups across the country. Applications close on 14 April.

The Mentor UK CHAMP awards recognise projects that help prevent children and young people of 14 and under from misusing alcohol. Winners receive a combination of money and consultancy support. Closing date for entries is 20 April 2008.

Changing Lives is a grant awarding project from Crisis, the national homeless charity. It provides financial awards of up to £2,500 to people who have been homeless to help them move towards a work-based vocational goal. The award could be used to pay for a course, for materials to use at work or for start up equipment to set up a business. Changing Lives is a project from Crisis which can provide funding for homeless people to pursue a vocational goal. Grants of up to £2,500 are available for education and training course fees, equipment needed for courses, items needed for setting up a business or tools needed to get back to work. Nominations for the 2008 Charity Awards are now open. The closing date for entries is 14 March.

Charity Bank has launched an asset finance service specifically for charities and emerging social enterprises. The service is aimed at organisations struggling to obtain finance for the purchase of equipment that could transform their ability to deliver services for the people they have been set up to assist.http://www.charitybank.org

UK registered charities working at a community and neighbourhood level can apply for funding of between £1,000 and £20,000. New charities that are not yet registered may be considered for start-up funding if they are able to demonstrate good governance and sound financial management. The Foundation are interested in funding new services or activities covering a variety of themes including heritage, improving community facilities or supporting older people. Also projects covering arts, preservation and the environment.

The Chelsea Building Society Charitable Foundation makes donations to a variety of charitable causes that benefit local communities. To be eligible for funding, your work must be within a 10-mile radius of a Chelsea Building Society branch office.

CWDC funding for training and development
has announced it is making a new batch of funding available to support training and development in the children and young people's sector during 2007/08.

CUF 'Mustard Seed' grants
enable faith-based projects and organisations to develop their ideas and pilot projects including existing networks, new networks and work to establish a voice for faith-based social action in your area. Grant requests up to £5,000 will be considered via a rolling programme with no deadlines.

A fund for registered charities involving projects from the following three purposes: reliving poverty; improving education; other purposes benefiting the community. Funding between £100-5,000.

For 2005-08 Comic Relief are concentrating their funding on: young people; older people; mental health; refugees and asylum seekers; domestic violence. The next deadline for the main grants programme (over £5,000) is 29 February. You can apply any time to the small grants programme (up to £5,000).

This year's WRG Communities Challenge will provide £2m of funding to support community regenerational projects that will breathe new life into tired and rundown facilties or provide much needed new amenities. Organisations are invited to bid for funding of between £75,000 and £250,000 for capital projects which will make a real difference to their community. The Community Champions Fund aims to help volunteers who can inspire others to get more involved in renewing their neighbourhoods through participation in the community.

Last year Community RePaint collected 240,000 litres of paint through its national network of 62 paint reuse projects. This paint is available free (or for a small donation) to all who work in the community and voluntary sector.

Community Spaces is a new £50m Big Lottery programme managed by Groundwork UK. Grants will allow groups to create or regenerate local spaces to improve the quality of life in their neighbourhoods. Project targets include: play areas; community gardens; parks and wildlife areas; village greens. <http://www.community-spaces.org.uk/>

Community Spaces is a £50m open grants programme that is managed by Groundwork UK as an Award Partner to the Big Lottery Fund. The programme helps community groups create or improve green and open spaces so that the quality of life in neighbourhoods across England is enhanced. Closing date is 9 January for applications for large grants (£50,000 - £100,000), and 30 January for flagship grants. (£100,001 - £450,000). http://www.community-spaces.org.uk

Community Spaces is a £50m grants programme that provides funding to community groups across England to improve or create green open spaces. The programme is funded through the Big Lottery Fund's Changing Spaces initiative and is managed by Groundwork UK.

Although the majority of Community Spaces funding will go towards small and medium sized grants, the programme is also offering a limited number of large grants (up to £100,000) and flagship grants (one per region, up to £450,000).

It could potentially help support access to learning and advice within smaller settlements. .

The Building Research Establishment is inviting applications to its next funding round of the Community Sustainable Energy Programme.

Capital and project development grants are available to community-based organisations throughout England to install small-scale energy efficient technology such as wind turbines or solar panels on sites including village halls, visitor centres or schools. Funding to improve building insulation is also available.

Connecting Classrooms gives UK schools the chance to partner with schools from two different countries in sub-Saharan Africa. The schools will link for intercultural dialogue and to increase knowledge and understanding of each other's societies.
