VAC have two volunteering advisors Penny Taylor and Ann Standing based in Reception at John Storer House.

Drop-in Session Times

Monday 9 am – 1 pm

Tuesday 9 am – 5 pm

Wednesday 9 am – 1 pm

Plus additional times subject to staff availability so please ask

Penny will provide support during the mornings and Ann the afternoons. They are responsible for providing advice and guidance to any members of the community interested in volunteering in the local area (Charnwood).

Ann and Penny will be happy to discuss any element of volunteering and provide further information on the many volunteering opportunities within the Charnwood District.

Voluntary Action Leicestershire Offers Support for Groups & Volunteering Opportunity Development in Charnwood

VAL have two members of staff working in the Charnwood District and they are based at the Old Magistrates Court.

Clare Nagle is now the Districts Team Leader responsible for the Line Management of the District Development Officers and VAL's service delivery across the County.

The Development Officer for Charnwood is Vin Gaten and he works in Charnwood full-time. His contact details are:

Vin has been working in other Districts for the past 18 months and is keen to get involved with groups and organisations in Charnwood.

Ilir Demaj works as our Development and Volunteer Advisor in Charnwood and should be contacted with details volunteer enquiries and opportunities that need filling.

Ilir also holds sessions at Syston, Birstall & Anstey.

The team are here to offer support to voluntary and community sector groups throughout the region and to promote and advise local people into worthwhile and rewarding volunteering opportunities.

Vin's role is to offer first hand support and guidance to groups on a range of topics including:

• Starting a new group
• Management and governance issues
• Generating and sustaining funding streams
• Identifying training or development needs
• Creating worthwhile volunteering opportunities within the Charnwood District
